Prime Minister Freundel Stuart reiterated government’s support for the international business sector at a recent reception for members of Barbados’ international business community.
Addressing his guests, Prime Minister Stuart assured that the Government of Barbados attached the highest possible importance to the international business sector and inflows of foreign direct investment. He also confirmed Government’s commitment to continually enhancing Barbados’ business environment, so that businesses already resident here could thrive.
To stay ahead of the competition, and to ensure that Barbados is strategically positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities, Prime Minister Stuart indicated that Government will continue to research and implement new products that are in demand by the business community. He also stressed that Government will continue to set high standards - ensuring that the relevant legislative updates are made on an on-going basis, and that Barbados continues to provide a safe and comfortable environment for investors.
Minister of International Business George Hutson also attended the reception. In his brief remarks, Minister Hutson noted that since the mid 1960’s, the international business sector has played an increasingly important role in Barbados’ economic development. He encouraged stakeholders to continue to strengthen the already cordial and productive relationship that exists between the public and private sectors.
